Transcending Racial Issues Aimed at Generating Equity
T.R.I.A.G.E. is a group of educators who have been trained in a cultural sensitization program, and whose techniques can ameliorate students of color identifying with the culture of power for reasons of their own embellishment; instead of them dis-identifying from it because of the pain caused from being in an environment steeped in hidden curriculum.
Based on a five-year study and thesis, T.R.I.A.G.E has a set of modules that cover various facets of English academia, and its content, and recodes the pedagogy in the curriculum, in regards to minority students. It is original because it offers solutions instead of just recounting grievances.
Inter-district and intra-district training with T.R.I.A.G.E. can stabilize race relations on campuses, reduce absenteeism, improve grades and test scores, and regain ground lost in the achievement gap. The program is organic because teachers in T.R.I.A.G.E. help one another come to grips with their prejudices and misplaced notions, instead of having a consultant just point fingers at them.
T.R.I.A.G.E. takes a diplomatic, but unabashed, stand at minimizing to the greatest extent possible, the legacy of discrimination that still exists in America, notwithstanding the Obama presidency.
